The Children and Youth programs of First Baptist Church all operate using curriculum which is consistent with the inclusive and progressive Christian values of the greater church family.
We welcome and affirm children coming from different kinds of families and different faith traditions. One of our core values is “soul freedom”—we believe and teach that every person has the ability, right and responsibility to make his or her own decisions about his or her personal relationship with God. Rather than indoctrinating the young folks entrusted to us, we strive to assist them as they set out upon their own journey of spiritual formation—by helping them become more knowledgeable about the Bible, more loving, more inquisitive, and more mature.
The First Baptist Church Sunday School serves infants through high school aged young people, and all Children’s and Youth Sunday School classes are located in the Annex, to the west side of the main church building.

Children’s classes (grades K-6) begin at approximately 10:15 AM, after the Children's Conversation in the morning worship service. Sunday School teachers will walk children over to the Annex building at this time. Sunday School is followed by optional Activity Time for kids grades K-6 from 11:15-12:00.
The Youth Class (grades 7-12) meets during the school year from 11:15 AM to 12:00 PM in the Youth Room of the Annex. Many of our youth are also involved in the PeaceJam program.
